ICT ICC: ICT Industry Collaboration Centre of Western Australia
ICT Industry Collaboration Centre of Western Australia

History

The Information and Communications Technology Industry Collaboration Centre (ICTICC), incorporated in 2007, was established in 2004 with the objective of facilitating growth and sustainability of the WA ICT sector.  In an admirable strategic decision by the Department of Industry and Resources (DoIR), funding for ICTICC was provided under the Industry Association and Bilateral Business Organisation Development Scheme.

ICTICC have delivered on this objective, and the activities agreed with DoIR, as the Industry representative body by bringing industry and professional associations with an interest in the ICT sector together with the WA State Government through the DoIR.  During the initial phase 2005-2007, ICTICC focussed its vision and scope, become an incorporated body and strengthened internally through clarification of the relationship between ICTICC and the member associations.

ICTICC was founded by six industry and professional associations:

  •  The Australian Computer Society (ACS).
  •  The Australian Information Industries Association (AIIA).
  •  The Australian Telecommunications Users Group (ATUG).
  •  Engineers Australia (EA).
  •  The Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
  •  The Western Australian Internet Association (WAIA).

The six organisations combined allowed ICTICC to provide a stronger representative body than could any one of these member organisations.  Additional ICT and other industry associations have now joined ICTICC and added strength to the Centre as a representative body for the WA ICT industry.

With the change in ICTICC's funding model at the end of 2007, we have turned our focus to industry development, marketing and careers: coordinating initiatives across industry and seeking support and sponsorship on a project-by project basis.
