Awards
WA has a number of competitions and awards relevant to the ICT industry:
WAITTA
The WA Information Technology and Telecommunications Awards (WAITTA)
have been conducted annually since 1991 by the WA Branch of the
Australian Computer Society Inc. The purpose of the WAITTA is to
recognise outstanding performance and contributions by members of the
IT&T community in Western Australia.

WA Web Awards
The WA Web Awards is an offical event organised by AWIA, the
Australian Web Industry Association (formerly Port80 Inc), as a
showcase of the outstanding work of West Australian web designers and
developers. 2008 sees the fourth WA Web Awards programme, and for the first time the Awards will be run in conjunction with the inaugural Edge of the Web Conference.

Inventor of the Year
WA Inventor of the Year Award, is one of Australia’s richest competitions for
inventors and innovators, the award offers more than $300,000 in cash
and prizes across a range of categories, including over $100,000 for
the major winner. Now in its third year, the award is designed to assist the public,
private and education sectors to commercialise their ideas and to
further build on the strong culture of innovation and entrepreneurship
already established in WA.

WA Industry and Export Awards
These awards acknowledge the innovation, hard
work and success of businesses, large and small, in reaching new
markets. These awards also acknowledge the important contribution that
Western Australian businesses make to the local economy through job
creation and increased prosperity in the community. The Department of Industry and Resources, as the Government agency
responsible for managing these awards, strongly encourages you to
consider nominating for these influential awards.

Premier's Science Awards
The Premier’s Science Awards are a valued means of recognising
excellence in science by raising awareness of science and technology
endeavours in Western Australia (WA). The awards create a sense of community pride in science
communication, education and research and provide Western Australians
with an opportunity to publicly celebrate, encourage and reward the
best scientists, science teachers and science communicators in Western
Australia (WA).
WA’s science community can boast two Nobel Prize winners, two
Australians of the Year and countless other award-winning scientists,
meaningful research, and passionate science educators and
communicators.

Science and Innovation Studentship Awards
The Science and Innovation Studentship Award is an annual grant program
to provide an opportunity for research students to work on a project
with a Western Australian (WA) private sector organisation of their
choice for a period of 10 weeks.
The awards program, introduced in 2004, promotes research
interaction between industry and academia, with a focus on issues
essential to long-term development and modernisation of WA industry. It
seeks to encourage creativity and innovation in science
students/graduates, with students allowed to broaden their professional
experience and gain valuable skills and experience in developing and
applying their own ideas.
The Science and Innovation Studentship Award (SISA) provides
$7,000.00 to each SISA Student Recipient to broaden their professional
experience, and gain valuable skills and experience in developing and
applying their own ideas. This is achieved through conducting a
full-time 10-week project, during the university summer break (Dec –
Feb), with a private sector Host Organisation.
