Government

Many agencies of the Western Australian and Federal Government include ICT in their portfolios.  This can make it complex to work out which agency has jurisdiction.  The  Government in Western Australia has recently made changes affecting many of the agencies we work with - particularly the Department of Commerce (previously Industry and Resources), the Office of eGovernment (now part of the Public Sector Commission) and the State Supply Commission (now part of the Department of Treasury and Finance).

Read on to find out more about Government and the ICT industry - latest information can be found on the respective websites.

eGovernment Strategy for Western Australia

The e-Government Strategy establishes a roadmap for how the Western Australian Public Sector will progress to a transformational model of government service delivery.

The vision for e-government conveyed in the Strategy is ‘a more efficient public sector that delivers integrated services and improved opportunities for community participation’.

The e-Government Strategy is primarily aimed at agencies. However, private industry and business will play a critical and collaborative role in the development of e-government transformation across the Western Australian Government.

Department of Treasury and Finance

The Department of Treasury and Finance provides quality economic and financial management for Western Australia, administers State revenue laws, performs a central contracting and tendering function, and whole-of-government shared services for human resources and finance.

Government Procurement

Government Procurement is a business unit with the Department of Treasury and Finance that performs the central contracting and tendering function for the public sector.

Government Procurement delivers contracting services and procurement systems and standards for agencies in the State's public sector. This includes developing and managing a range of common use arrangements for goods and services regularly purchased by most government agencies, as well as helping individual agencies procure their needs.

Government Procurement is also responsible for leading the procurement function at a whole of government level, providing strategic procurement advice and risk management.

The three divisions are:

  • Strategic Procurement Sevices
  • Client Procurement Services
  • Procurement Systems and Standards

Shared Services is a business unit of the Department of Treasury and Finance. Shared Services provides a range of corporate services to government agencies in line with reforms identified in the State's Review into the Effective Delivery of Government Priorities carried out in 2002.

The services we provide to government agencies under a whole of government approach include human resources, financial services and online solutions. Underpinning the supply of these services are the principles of aggregation, standardisation, simplification and automation.
