| OVERVIEW WA is brimming with creative talent and
qualified, smart people working in the creative industries (CIs). The
CI sector is made up of those businesses that turn creative
ideas into commercial outcomes - while multimedia is about developing
applications that combine more than one media, such as text and
graphics, with sound, video and animation. ScreenWest is the State's
screen funding and development agency that works with the screen
industry to develop, support and promote film, TV and digital media
production in WA.
The CI industry is composed of creative "segments" that include:
music and performing arts; film, TV and radio; advertising and
marketing; software, web and multimedia development; writing,
publishing and print media; architecture; and design and visual art;
and other creative arts. It's a valuable and growing sector that
contributed $10 billion to our local economy in 2006.
