Premier-elect Colin Barnett has unveiled his new cabinet which will have a country flavour.
The Nationals have three ministerial positions. Nationals leader Brendon Grylls will be responsible for Regional
Development, Lands and will assist Colin Barnett in his State
Development portfolio. Renowned country sportsman Terry "Tuck" Waldron will be responsible for
Sport and Recreation, Racing and Gaming and Minister assisting on
country health. The third Nationals ministerial position was given to Terry Redman who
will be the Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and minister assisting
on country education.
Mr Grylls said the Nationals had signed an agreement that allowed the
Nationals to maintain independence but he was not interested in
disrupting parliament. "We don't plan on being a wrecker, we don't plan on causing problems in parliament..." Mr Grylls said.
Independent Liz Constable becomes the new Education Minister and picks
up the Tourism and Women's Interests while former Liberal education
spokesman Peter Collier will manage Energy and Training.
Former Liberal leader Troy Buswell will be Treasurer and hold the super
