Ripper announces shadow portfolios

Opposition leader Eric Ripper has gone for newcomers in
crucial portfolios as he seeks to put early pressure on the new state
government.
Announcing his shadow cabinet today, Mr Ripper handed Victoria
Park MP Ben Wyatt the Treasury portfolio and deputy leader and new
Kwinana MP Roger Cook took the health job formerly held by Jim McGinty.
Other former ministers on the frontbench include Michelle Roberts,
who becomes education and women's interests spokeswoman, Mark McGowan,
who has been given state development, trade, planning and housing and
works, and Margaret Quirk, who takes on police, emergency services and
road safety.

Sue Ellery - Legislative Council Leader, child protection, community services, seniors and volunteering, disability services

Jon Ford - mines, petroleum, fisheries

Ben Wyatt - treasury, federal-state relations, culture and the arts
Sally Talbot - environment, lands, youth
Mick Murray - agriculture, forestry, racing and gaming
