Architects design anything from houses to small buildings to large-scale developments - which requires creativity, imagination and an understanding of materials and construction. These designers are becoming increasingly reliant on computing skills and the provision of high-quality software to assist them.

Whether architects and those in allied professions are creating diagrams, designs, preparing documents for approvals (eg with planning, fire and health agencies), constructing models or undertaking cost estimates, computing skills are becoming ever more important. Most professionals work with computer-aided design software and animation in the drawing process so they need to be knowledgeable about these applications and virtual architecture.
