Architecture
Architects design anything from houses to small buildings to large-scale developments - which requires creativity, imagination and an understanding of materials and construction. Similarly, landscape architects, town planners and other associated professionals combine their artistic, scientific and engineering knowledge to enhance our surroundings. These designers are becoming increasingly reliant on computing skills and the provision of high-quality software to assist them.
Whether architects and those in allied professions are creating diagrams, designs, preparing documents for approvals (eg with planning, fire and health agencies), constructing models or undertaking cost estimates, computing skills are becoming ever more important. Most professionals work with computer-aided design software and animation in the drawing process so they need to be knowledgeable about these applications and virtual architecture.

| Local design firms are utilising a range of sophisticated software and animation technology to give them the edge over competing firms. Architects and urban and regional planners are creating unique, lifelike illustrations of buildings and developments - such as 3-D architectural visualisation, animated fly-throughs and digital stills. They're also assisting the real estate industry (including high-end) and developers, who can market their real estate using premium software to provide buyers with images that are almost as good as a walk-through. |
